Reading a UOB One Account statement (and getting it into Excel)
What each section of a UOB One Account PDF statement means — bonus interest, debit card lines, GIRO and PayNow references — and how to convert it cleanly.
UOB One Account statements run to ten pages or more because every debit card transaction prints on three lines. Here's how to read one and how it converts.
The summary page
Shows the account balance, interest earned, and the ONE Account interest overview: eligible card spend and bonus interest earned for the month. The bonus interest itself appears as a transaction ("One Bonus Interest") in the detail pages.
The transaction pages
Each entry has a posting date in the left column, then a description block: - Misc DR-Debit Card: a card purchase. Line two is the transaction date, card suffix and reference; line three is the merchant and location. Overseas purchases add a line like "USD 10.90" above the SGD amount. - PAYNOW-FAST / Funds Trf - FAST: PayNow or FAST transfers, with the reference and recipient on following lines. - Inward CR - GIRO: salary, government payouts, and other credits. - NETS Debit-Consumer: NETS purchases. - Misc CR-Debit Card: refunds and the monthly debit card cash rebate.
Converting it
A UOB statement is the hardest common layout to convert well because of those three-line entries and the foreign-currency lines. The UOB converter joins each entry into one row (description, then details), puts the SGD figure in the right column, ignores the currency note, and reconciles every row. On a typical 120-transaction month that's 120 balance checks passed before the file downloads.
