Import a Singapore bank statement into Xero from a PDF
How to turn a UOB, DBS, OCBC or Maybank PDF statement into a Xero-ready CSV and import it, with the column format Xero expects.
Xero's bank feeds cover some Singapore banks but not all accounts, and feeds break. When you need to import a month manually, Xero accepts a CSV with a specific shape.
The CSV Xero wants
A header row, then one line per transaction with: - Date in dd/mm/yyyy - Amount as a single signed number: negative for money out, positive for money in - Payee, Description, Reference (optional but useful)
From PDF to that CSV
- Download the eStatement PDF from your bank (guides for UOB, DBS/POSB, OCBC, Maybank).
- On StatementSheet, choose Xero import CSV as the format and drop the PDF.
- The file you download already has the signed Amount column and dd/mm/yyyy dates.
Importing in Xero
- Accounting → Bank accounts → the account → Manage account → Import a statement.
- Upload the CSV. Xero shows a preview; confirm the columns match (Date, Amount, Payee, Description).
- Import. Reconcile as usual.
Before you import
Open the Excel version once and check the Statement sheet: opening and closing balances, and that every row shows reconciled in the Check column. If a row is flagged, compare it to the PDF before importing.
